Krisztina Károly is Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Professor of Linguistics, head of the Department of English Language Pedagogy, and director of the PhD Programme in Language Pedagogy and English Applied Linguistics at the School of English and American Studies of Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary. Her research interests relate to translation studies and discourse analysis, specifically to the study of translating news and academic texts. She is co-editor of the journal for translation and interpreting studies Across Languages and Cultures.
abstract:
As English has become the lingua franca of scientific communication, translation occupies a central position in the diseemimation of scientifc knowledge not only through specialized journals but also via publications for the general paper. This talk will examine the importance of translation in the environment and discuss notable examples.
