From October 19th to 20th, the International Academic Symposium on "Doris Lessing: Border Crossings" and the Dean's Forum on the Construction of the English Discipline were held at the Liulin Campus of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. The symposium was hosted by Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, organized by the faculty of international studies and the Center for Foreign Literature Studies of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, and co-sponsored by periodicals such as "Foreign Literature", "Social Science Research", "Foreign Language Teaching" and "Foreign Languages and Their Teaching". The symposium explored the core theme of "Doris Lessing: Border Crossings" from multiple perspectives and in English throughout. Professor Li Zhisheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of the university, and Professor Seda Arikan, the president-elect of the International Doris Lessing Society, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. More than 80 renowned experts and scholars from both home and abroad gathered together. As the first phase of the frontier academic forums for the centennial anniversary of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, this International Academic Symposium on "Doris Lessing: Border Crossings" and the Dean's Forum on the Construction of the English Discipline demonstrated academic insights in multiple dimensions such as cross-culture, cross-discipline, cross-media, cross-ethnicity and cross-gender. The conference came to a successful conclusion in the collision of knowledge and the integration of wisdom.
